Research Interest

I have a broad interest on in the areas of database and data mining. My current research is focused on creating easy-to-use information search and discovery interfaces for semi-structured and structured data sources. There are tremendous amount of semi-structured and structured data on the Web, scientific communities, and enterprises. However, ordinary users cannot take advantage of these collections as they are not familiar with the concepts such as schemas and
query languages. Also, the structural informaton evolves very rapidly.
I use methods from statistics, information theory, and information retrieval to develop domain independent search and discovery systems for these data sources. I also work on inforamtion extraction from unstructured and semi-structured data and content-based information integration.

Apart from this, I have also worked on Maitri: A data-management system for scientific data.
